alexis westbrook
A member of the VGS team since January of 2001, Alexis serves as
an account manager, specializing in media and public relations,
and as programming coordinator for events and expositions. Alexis
has developed key relationships with journalists in print, television
and radio, producing significant media placement for VGS clients.
Following the VGS motto of “At Your Service,” Alexis
handles journalists and clients in the same fashion, catering
to both parties’ needs to generate measurable results.
As programming coordinator, Alexis oversees events such as VISIONS:
The Women’s Expo, The Dallas White Rock Marathon Fitness
Expo, and the Dallas Flower & Outdoor Living Show. From securing
speakers and talent to coordinating media interviews and organizing
scheduling details, Alexis helps clients cover all the bases for
a successful event.
Before joining VGS, Alexis worked with the Dallas Council on World
Affairs as the program assistant and public relations support for
the Community Connections Program, developing press materials,
securing internship placements and assisting with recognition ceremonies
and special events. Alexis also held internships in public relations,
marketing and special event coordination at Gleason/Calise Associates
in Addison and with the grassroots organization, Austin Metro Trails & Greenways.
Alexis graduated in December 2000 from Southern Methodist University
with a bachelor’s degree in public affairs and corporate
communications and a minor in political science. During a strong
academic career, Alexis studied international public relations
and editorial/critical writing in London at Regent’s College
and served as a contributing writer for the SMU Daily Campus and
the University of Texas’ Orange Magazine.
